Unter uns, Among us, started with a simple idea: there are beings already living alongside us, unnoticed, who carry the virtues we need but can't always find on our own. They don't announce themselves; they appear only when someone is lost enough to need guiding, and only if we let them.
Bela finds them in the layers of paper, often before knowing who they are. Some have already revealed themselves: Sabino carries wisdom, Tolerance carries its own name, Hope, Joy, and Felicity are the youngest of the cast, Curiosity the most restless. Others are finished and still waiting for their virtue, because the list itself stays open, drawn from traditions older than this project.
Paper holds both ends of memory: the oldest way we've recorded things, and the easiest way to lose them. Virtues work the same way, carried for centuries and gone in a generation if no one passes them on. Some of these beings exist as framed pieces, offered like a thank-you rather than a portrait. Others exist only as a sighting: a photograph of a place, and a being that was there, briefly, before it wasn't.
